What is Home? (2021)

Artist Residency at NEST - North East Solidarity & Teaching (Newcastle University’s Students Union programme supporting refugees and asylum seekers).

I will explore ideas of home and belonging through the lens provided by migratory birds and their nests. Despite their temporary nature, birds’ nests are invested with care – beautiful structures constructed from what is available locally. These temporary homes are abandoned at the end of summer and invite us to raise questions about our own investment in the idea of ‘home’ - its endurance and its life affirming qualities - what it means to be at home and to journey away from it.
